An amazing batting display by kiwi star batsmen Brendon McCullum helped Kolkata Knight Riders register their first win in the inaugural Twenty20 match of Indian Premier League.

The kiwi wicket keeper batsman along with Bollywood star Shah Rukh Khan and his troop put quite a show at this one sided match. McCullum stayed unbeaten on 158 scoring them off only 73 balls at an astonishing strike rate of 216.43 helping KKR score 222 runs in 20 overs. Skipper Ganguly scoring 10 runs and Ponting scoring 20 off 20 balls also contributed to the total of 222.

McCullum said “It was a fantastic experience. The ball was doing a wee bit initially but we gave ourselves two overs to settle and then it just happened”.

Bangalore Royal Challengers were outplayed by the SRK Knight Riders at every aspect of the game. The challengers were out for 82 losing the game by a rather wide margin of 140 runs. Rahul Dravid lasted only 3 balls and was bowled by a superb delivery by young Ishant Sharma. Image Kallis who scored only 8 runs with a single huge six on Agarkar’s ball and young Praveen Kumar scoring 18 not out with 2 sixes and a four. With the pressure of scoring 11 runs an over, the rest of the Bangalore team fell down like fall leaves.

Shah Rukh Khan danced all along the KKR innings keep pace with McCullum sixes. King Khan would not have expected a better start for the Knight Riders and Vijay Mallya the worst. But it is too early to right off anyone as the tournament has just begun. Shah Rukh is probably rhyming for the rest of the weekend “Chak De McCullum” but not for too long as they get ready to play against the Deccan Chargers on Sunday.
